LET GO AND LET GOD

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Lu.15:11-24; Jn.3:16; 6:44; 12:32; Rom.5:8; 12:1; 2 Cor.10:4,5;
Eph.4:18; 1 Thess.5:24; Jam.5:7; 2 Pet.3:18; 1 Jn.3:2)

*
To just let go and just let God is something you should do,
But if you don't know what God's like it will be hard for you.
To give your life over to God, yes, give it totally,
Will be a scary thing if you don't His true nature see.
***
I used to think that God was a controller and that He
Would make me do His will for Him-I'd have no choice, you see.
And what if He had plans for me, things I'd not want to do?
How could I dare entrust my life to Him if this were true?
***
But I've discovered that was just a lie that I'd believed;
A lie that my own darkened mind mistakenly received.
For God's not a controller, no, He's not, I now know truth.
It was a false idea I'd had since I was just a youth.
***
God will not force His will on us, a Gentleman He is.
He has respect for our free will-choice is a way that's His.
Oh, what a blessing when I saw this attribute of God;
A blessing that has overcome my thinking that was flawed.
***
The father of the prodigal did not control the son,
Who chose to leave the father's home, to take control and run.
Yes, run his life in his own way, a way that was so wrong.
The father waited patiently and for his son did long.
***
The son returned eventually for then he really knew
His father's ways, they were the best, he knew that it was true
That yielding to the father's plans was the best way to live.
The father never forced the son, to him, control to give.
***
The father of the prodigal shows us God's nature true.
God lets us choose to come to Him-His will we choose to do.
He draws, He woos, He calls to us but we must make the choice
To fit in with His plans for us-He gives us each a voice.

If we are willing just to trust this God who is so kind,
And let Him really take control of our lives, we will find
That it's the best choice we can make, to let Him have control;
For our ways just don't turn out right-on us they take their toll.
***
A God who would give up His Son, His only Son, for us
Is surely One who loves us so-a God whom we can trust.
To give over control to Him is reasonable for sure,
For then this love He has for us brings our sick soul a cure.
***
God is not a controlling God, yet He will take control
Of your life if you trust Him to-it's such a worthy goal.
And when God's seated on the throne of your heart every day,
You'll live a peaceful life for you have chosen the best way.
***
If you've a problem with control it might be 'cause you feel
That God is a controlling God-to you that's what is real.
For what your God is like to you though wrong your concept be,
Is really what you will be like in your life, don't you see?
***
I know that GOD IS IN CONTROL, I say that all the time.
It seems a paradox to say, "Control this life of mine."
I can't explain but yet I know we each must CHOOSE His way.
Your body, a living sacrifice, present to Him today.
***
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye =
present your bodies
a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable =
service" (Romans 12:1).
