Are you saved by what you do? Or by what you do not do? Are you saved by one or two? Is it you or is it Christ? Who's the one who paid the price For the saving of your soul? Which of you is in control? *** Who controls the saving part, If you have Christ in your heart? Do you need to be afraid That your sin debt's not been paid? You were told, "Salvation's free," Yet you worry fretfully, As you live life here below, That to heaven you won't go. *** Is there just ONE sacrifice That COMPLETELY paid the price For ALL sins that you have done? Even future ones to come? Past and present-future, too; Yes, it's really, really true: ALL your sin on Christ's been laid, All your debt of sin's been paid. *** You will make mistakes on earth, After you've had the new birth. Do you think it's up to you To keep saved by what you do? Then that puts you in control Of the saving of your soul. Heavy load to carry round; Should this weight on you be found? *** No, of course, it shouldn't be. Christ's your Savior, don't you see? Revelation's what you need, So from doubt you can be freed. Doubt that says, "It can't be true That there's NOTHING you can do." Cast those doubts out, just believe; And assurance you'll receive. *** Have you known Christ many years, But you can't get rid of fears That you might not make the grade? Sometimes you are so afraid That the weaknesses you see In your flesh so constantly Will damnation on you pour. Are you saved?-you are not sure. *** What will render you great peace, And will give you such release, Is when you are willing to Give up ANYTHING you do, To keep yourself right with God, As you through this life do trod. What a load will lift from you, As this "work" of faith you do! *** Oh, how pleasing you will be To your Lord, oh, don't you see, When you just give up control Of the keeping of your soul? Christ's the Savior, it's not you; There is NOTHING you can do. Humbling to you, it is; Saving, keeping-that work's His! *** Obedience to your Lord's way Is important, I will say; But that's not what keeps your soul. That can't be in your control. Christ's your Savior-He's the One; Your salvation's through God's Son. He'll keep you saved constantly. What a gift for you-and me! *** When this revelation's clear, You will never, never fear That you will not make the grade. You will never be afraid Of God's judgment-now you're free; Transformed in your "walk" you'll be. You will want to God obey, As you walk this faith-filled way. *** Oh, what love to us was shown, When Christ did for sins atone On the cross of Calvary; Saving grace for you and me.
