WHO IS IN CONTROL?

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Isa.55:8-9; 61:10; Jn.6:28-29; Acts 3:19; Rom.6:6-7; 12:2;
 2 Cor.5:17,21; Gal.2:21; Eph.2:8-9; Phil.3:8-9; 1 Pet.1:8; 3:18; 2 =
Pet.3:18)

***
When Jesus died upon the cross, what suffering He went through
so we could have salvation free, a gift for me, for you.
The adam nature that we have was put to death that day,
and ALL those sins that came from that were taken all away.
***
And in exchange He gives to us a righteousness that's free;
one of His making, not of ours, He gives to you and me.
And this is true for all of us who only just believe,
believe in Christ, in what He's done and willingly receive.
***
God makes us new creations, those who willingly receive;
yes, those who will repent of sin and in Christ just believe.
It's all a gift, a gift from God, (a gift, of course, is free).
It's not of works, lest we should boast, we need to clearly see.
***
We should be able to relax for God is in control
of salvation and righteousness, those things that made us whole.
But some of us have a hard time, control we hang onto;
yet, for those two things God gives us there's nothing left to do.
***
God's thinking differs from our thoughts, we humans want to earn.
We need renewing of our minds so God's ways we will learn.
God will not let us earn from Him, the righteousness He gave;
He will not let it rest upon the way that we behave.
***
To try and earn the gifts God gives lets us be in control.
But we should learn to give that up, it should be our life's goal.
The Bible says to grow in grace but this you will not do,
unless you give up your control and let God's grace flood you.
***
Just think of what our Lord went through that day at Calvary,
so we could have salvation and a righteousness that's free.
It must make God frustrated when His grace we push away,
by working hard for righteousness, by trying hard each day.
***
Who's in control anyway, is it God or you?
Does your soul's salvation depend on what you do?
Is your righteousness a gift, one that you did not earn?
To walk in grace, it is a way of life that we must learn.
***
Salvation is a garment and righteousness a robe,
that you are clothed and covered with which lifts a heavy load.
A heavy load from off of you of being in control.
If you will only just believe, God's grace will flood your soul.

Paul said that it was "in Christ" that he wanted to be found,
not having his own righteousness when his last day came round.
He was a man who really learned to give up his control
of salvation and righteousness, it really was Paul's goal.
***
If you want joy unspeakable and full of glory, too,
to bubble up inside your heart, a joy long overdue,
then let Christ be your righteousness, just give up your control.
That joy unspeakable will then well up within your soul.
