I know that He's been speaking to me for many a year; The message He's been giving is getting very clear. This message, if it's heeded, will lift a heavy load, That most of us as Christians have carried down life's road. This weight we've gotten used to, it seems to you and me, That this is just how life is, it's how it's supposed to be. When this load has been lifted from off of you and me, It's then we'll see the difference, how different life will be. It will bring us a freedom that's rarely ever known; A whole new way of living is what we will be shown. This weight that we've been bearing is BEING IN CONTROL, Instead of seeing clearly that this is not our role. But this role's been designed for the Lord whom we can trust; And God's designs are perfect, they are the best for us. God's longing to take over control of life for me; But He needs my permission to do that, now I see. For free will He has given to all of us, it's true; And violation of it is what He will not do. Salvation is a free gift and righteousness is, too. These both are GIVEN by God, not earned by what we do. Oh, what a weight is lifted now that I really see, The maintenance of these gifts is done by God, not me. A weight is taken off me now that I need not seek, Acceptance and approval from God, each day, each week. Christ shed His blood to make me accepted by the Lord; Control of my acceptance, to God, I will award. No working hard to please God, I'm glad that weight is gone; For doing that puts me in control, and that is wrong. It's not my good behavior that keeps my God appeased. Christ's blood has done that for me--faith in that makes God pleased. With me, my God is at peace and He will always be, Because His Son has made peace between my God and me. That takes weight off my shoulders as I live life each day. With God's peace resting on me, I'll walk a peaceful way. To try to earn my Lord's love means I am in control; And that's a weight I've shouldered too long, a useless goal. God's love has no conditions, that's what I now can see. I'll let God love me His way, yes, unconditionally. And in my daily life now I want the Lord to be The one who takes control of things that pertain to me. To let God guide my ways now and handle life each day, Will lift the weight I've carried, "The weight is gone!" I'll say. "Oh, cast your crown before Me, let Me be King, not you," God says, "You'll enter My rest, one like you never knew." I think that there’s a message the = Lord’s been trying to
Get through to His dear children for so long, yes, I = do.
I know that He’s been speaking to me for many = a year;
The message He’s been giving is getting = very clear.
