The battle is over, the victory's been won; Our old adam nature has been overcome. *** Yes, that adam nature with all of its sin Was laid upon Christ, yes, God laid it on Him, As He hung there dying on Calvary's tree, So we from that nature could really be free. *** That nature began back in Eden one day, When Adam decided to go his own way, And be his own god, yes, to be in control; And Eve, too, they both did--so bad for their soul. *** That nature was passed onto all down through time; The nature from Adam became yours and mine. It's been like a plague on the whole human race; Just look at the problems this world has to face! *** There's hate and self-centeredness, greed, and there's war; Tyrannical leaders who tread down the poor. And though we've tried hard to get rid of these things, We can't, and it's "adam" from which all this springs. *** And no one's exempt from this nature within; This nature's potential brings forth only sin. I need to be honest and say it is true: This nature is in me--and it is in you! *** We need a new nature, the old one can't be Patched up, though we try, some of us, constantly. We need to let God give a nature that's new, And He has provided one for us, it's true. *** When we're born again we're made new in His sight; A new birth to give us a nature that's right. All things become new, yes, the old's passed away. When Christ lives in us, then with God we're okay. *** God started all over a race that is new; One that is eternal, it's flawless and true. And He is the Father of this race, you see; All those with new natures are God's family. *** This family's made up of believers on earth, Yes, all those in this world who've had the new birth. Plus, some are in heaven and someday we'll be There, too, with the Father, for eternity. *** Do you sense a war going on within you? If so, there is peace that is long overdue; For "adam" is dead, he's been nailed to the cross, And now there is hope for all those who are lost. *** That nature that plagues you, it's taken away; A brand new creation you can be today. There's just one condition: repent and believe; Believe in Christ Jesus, yes, Jesus receive. *** Repent means to turn, turn around, turn from sin. Believe that the Lord, on the cross, He did win A victory o'er "adam" to set us all free From that adam nature that's plagued you and me. *** And then, in exchange, God will give unto you A nature that's righteous, a nature that's new.
