WALK IN THE NEW

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Isa.64:6; Nahum 1:14; Hab.2:4; Jn.14:27; Rom.5:1; 6:3-11; 13:14; 2 =
Cor.5:17,21;=20
Gal.2:20; 5:16,25; Eph.1:6; 2:1-6; 4:24; Col.1:27; 2:6,7; 3:7,10; =
Heb.11:6; 13:5)

Dear Christian, do you see yourself the way that God sees you?
If you're "in Christ" and Christ's "in you" then you've been made brand =
new.
This new you must be seen by faith and not by sight, you know;
And faith is what will please the Lord as you walk here below.

The old has gone, the new has come, where did the old you go?
Nailed to the cross with Jesus Christ, the old you's dead, you know.
And from the grave you rose with Christ, a blessed creation new;
And that's your real self, yes, it is, the Bible says it's true.

Walk in that new man now by faith though it may not seem real.
Just speak your word of faith, please don't go by the way you feel.
Your feelings, they will lie to you and try to make you doubt;
But faith in what the Bible says will cast those doubts right out.

So many times your feelings say: "I don't feel God in me."
But God said He would never leave, with feelings don't agree.
And it's the same with your new self, you may not feel brand new;
But you must learn to always see things from God's point of view.

And that's the way you need to walk, by "walk" I mean "to live."
And then God can unfold the new, a glimpse to you He'll give.
A glimpse of that creation new you'll then begin to see.
It's, first, by faith and, then, by sight, the new you and new me.

It's such a mystery because that old man seems alive,
Though it's been "crucified with Christ," it just did not survive.
And "yet I live, yet it's not I, but Christ who lives in me."
He's now my life, yes, that new life, from that old life I'm free!

The old you always wants to earn God's love--acceptance, too.
The old you struggles to be good and fails, you know that's true.
The old you is so arrogant, it builds self-righteousness.
That's called by God a filthy rag, works that God will not bless.

The old you thinks it can appease God's wrath by being good.
It thinks God's peace can be obtained by doing what it should.
It's very good at playing god, in charge it likes to be.
This independent "adam's" been the old in you and me.

You just can't earn the love of God, your God you can't appease.
You can't build your own righteousness, these works do not God please.
You can't keep God at peace with you, it's arrogant to try.
"I'll make thy grave for thou art vile"--this old man had to die!

The new you never tries to earn God's love--acceptance, too.
It builds not its own righteousness by good things it can do.
It never tries to earn God's peace, won't try to God appease.
It lives by faith in what Christ did; by that, it does God please.

Don't try to crucify the old for that has all been done.
The new you's perfect in God's sight, made that way by His Son.
The arrogant old self, let go, just let go of your hold.
Agree with God, yes, it is dead and let the new unfold.

Approach the Lord in the new you and "Welcome!" you will hear.
You're made the righteousness of God in Christ--no need to fear.
Don't come to God in the old you, that's dead, its grave's been made.
And when the new comes shining through the old will have to fade.
