Of cares of this world, we will each have our share; Some have more than others, which doesn't seem fair. The cares of this world, Christ called thorns, don't you know? And thorns are the reason some Christians don't grow. For thorns choke the Seed of the Word of the Lord, And that's something Christians just cannot afford. *** A sower went forth to sow seed in the ground; He scattered the seeds here and there, all around. Some seeds fell on ground that had thorns within it; The thorns grew and choked out the seeds, every bit. So no fruit was borne from the seeds that were sown, For thorns choked the seeds and then no fruit was grown. The seed was such good seed that fell on the ground, But thorns were the problem and no fruit was found. *** When problems and worrisome things come our way; Our God wants His children to say, come what may: "Lord, I know You promised to take care of me, So I'll cast my worries and problems on Thee. 'Be anxious for nothing,' is Your clear command; And I want to do that and on those words stand. I know You won't leave me, You'll work problems out; And I'll trust you, Father, Your praises I'll shout." *** If we're filled with worries when problems appear, And don't give them over to God who is near, It means we have taken control of our life; And don't trust our Father in midst of the strife. If we're in control then God can't give us peace, So peace will not come 'til control we release. To give us His peace is what God longs to do, It says in the scriptures, and I know it's true. *** Though many good Seeds have been sown in your heart, They will not bear fruit if you don't do your part; And your part is trusting what God says is true, And letting Him handle all problems for you. In your heart don't let all your worries abide; God's Words and your worries can't live side by side. Guard your heart with diligence, yes, every day; So thorns won't get in there-oh, keep them away! *** There seem to be Christians who've known God for years, And yet they're still so filled with worries and fears. They read God's Word daily, His promises know; And yet peace and joy in their life doesn't show. It could be that worry and fear choked the Word; It's just like God's promises haven't been heard. With diligence they have not guarded their heart; God's Life can't come forth for they've not done their part. *** Oh, Christian, guard your heart, don't let thorns in there! Cast your cares upon God, for you He does care. Take no thought for your life, say not, "What'll I eat, Oh, what will I drink or wear," but just repeat The promises God gives that He'll care for you. He feeds all the birds, surely He'll feed you, too! The Seed of God's Word will take root in your heart; And bear fruit in your life, which will not depart. *** Seed sown among thorns cannot grow, for thorns choke; They choke out the Seed and leave a heavy yoke. For worries and fears are like a heavy load; A burden to carry as we walk life's road. We were not designed to bear worry and fear; They take such a toll on us, year after year. But God is a Gentleman, He'll not insist On carrying the worries for them who resist. *** Have you said, "Oh, Lord, why don't I have Your peace? Why is it that joy in my life seemed to cease?" Could it be your worries have choked out the Seed? And now it can't bear fruit, your heart it can't feed? If so, give up worry, trust God, then you'll see That your life will bring forth fruit abundantly.
