STRENGTH IN WEAKNESS

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Rom.7:14-25; 2 Cor.4:7-12; 12:7-10; Eph.6:10; Isa.42:8; 64:8)

Paul tried in his weakness to do what was right;
He struggled so hard in his flesh day and night.
His spirit was willing, but his flesh was weak.
"Oh, I am so wretched," they heard Saint Paul speak.

Paul struggled with weakness like you have, and I,
But later in his life, when time had gone by,
Paul changed and he said, "I will now glory in
My weaknesses, yes, I will glory in them."

What brought about in Paul this change of his mind?
He found out a secret that we need to find:
That when we are weak, it's in God we are strong;
To glory in weakness can then be our song.

It's when I am strong in my own strength, you see,
That God gets no glory, it all goes to me.
But when I am weak and in Him I am strong,
Then all of the glory to God will belong.

When our strength just crumbles and we feel so weak,
Then, hopefully, God's strength we will start to seek.
The power of Christ will then rest upon us,
And that will be so, for it's His strength we trust.

When we, as believers, face things that are hard,
Our weaknesses show up, our strength seems so marred.
But do not be saddened, that's how it should be,
So we'll see our strength is in God, don't you see?

God's not asking us to be strong, don't you know?
Not strong in ourselves, on this earth here below.
He's asking us to just a weak vessel be,
That His strength can use, that will give Him glory.

Paul spoke of a thorn in his flesh that he had,
That made him feel so weak, made him feel so bad.
Three times he asked God to take his thorn away.
"My grace is sufficient," he heard his Lord say.

We all have a "thorn" that makes us feel so weak,
And sometimes that thorn will cause us God to seek.
I really see now if no weakness I had,
I would not have found God and that would be sad.

The world's ways are different from God's ways, you see;
The world honors strength in the flesh, humanly.
But God honors weakness in vessels of clay,
In ones who are willing to live in God's way.

Oh, glory in weakness, then you will be strong,
If you're a believer and to God belong.
Oh, strength in our weakness is God's way, you see;
Christ's power will then rest upon you and me.

Weak vessels, weak vessels are ones God will choose.
Yes, they are the ones that our Lord likes to use;
So if you're a weak one with feet made of clay,
Then you'll qualify for the Lord's strength today.
