She should be made to pay!" *** But they were only testing Christ To see what He would say; And if He didn't keep the law, Contempt on Him they'd lay. At first He did not answer them, He just wrote on the ground; And then He said, "If you've not sinned, With stones, just knock her down." *** Then He stooped down and once again Wrote something on the ground. They must have heard what Jesus said, For no one hung around. Then to the woman He did say, "Accusers, I don't see; Go on your way and sin no more, For I've forgiven thee." *** I've often wondered why the Lord Stooped and wrote on the ground, And why the people left so fast; They did not hang around. And then I saw, He's called "The Word," The Word of God is He, And in the soil of their hearts He wrote His Word, you see. *** The word He wrote upon the ground And spoke to them that day, It did the work He knew it would, For they all went away.
