No better place I've found. The word calls it the secret place, Where we can choose to dwell. A habitation of our God; A place for us as well. *** This place is found within the heart Of those who love the Lord; A fortress they can run into. It says so in God's word. In there, a refuge it will be When trouble starts to brew; And you will know that your dear Lord Is right there with you, too. *** In there, the peace of God does rule, And He'll make known to you That all your sins are blotted out; Past, present-future, too. And when you really know that truth, The peace of God will be Like waves that flood all over you, Inside you secretly. *** A mother hen protects her chicks; Her wings just cover them. Her feathers make a haven safe That they can stay within. Our Lord is like a mother hen, And He wants us to be Under His wings, inside that place That's made for you and me. *** There is a snare the fowler sets To trap us, it is true. He says, "Relationship with God Depends on what YOU do." But there, within the secret place, You'll see that is a lie. You're right with God because His Son On Calvary's cross did die. *** That secret place of the most High Is where I want to be, For there He gives His angels charge To keep watch over me. It's such a comfort to my heart When troubles I do face, To know His angels are around When I am in that place. *** God's shadow, it will cover you As you dwell in that place. Oh, what a comfort that will be When trials you have to face. When terror strikes you in the night, Or arrows pierce by day, You'll be within the secret place, Where fear can never stay. *** You'll trample on your enemy, And tread upon your foe. Your secret home, it is a place Where Satan cannot go. For he can never enter there Inside your secret space. There's only room for you and God, And Satan has no place. *** Oh, child of God, when life gets hard, Where is it that you run? To human counsel do you go, Or to God do you come? If you will seek Him first of all, He'll send the help you need; A human touch, a book, a word, But let God take the lead. *** That secret place, it is within Each child of God, you know; And dwelling there, it is a choice, While living here below.
