No working on this special Day, This Day's a gift of love. Yes, no work on the Sabbath Day For it's a Day of Rest; A Day we live in all the time. This is life at its best. *** When Jesus died upon the cross,=20 Then rose up from the grave, He ushered in the Sabbath Day; A Day God to us gave. Not Saturday and not Sunday, It's not a weekly day; But it's a Day of Rest that lasts Forever, come what may. *** One day a week before Christ came, God's children were to rest. No working on the seventh day,=20 A special day so blessed. But that was just symbolic of=20 The Day Christ ushered in, After He came and died for us To take away our sin. *** And now, on this side of the cross,=20 Each day's the Sabbath Day. Yes, every moment, all the time, This is the Lord's new way. The work to save our souls and make=20 Us righteous in God's sight Has all been done for us by Christ. Oh, what rest, day and night! *** But there are some who fight against=20 This Sabbath Day of Rest. They want to keep on working hard; They always try their best To maintain their salvation by The good works that they do. They want to earn their righteousness; It's sad to say, but true. *** That's working on the Sabbath Day; That's what it means, you see. Cease from those works, it's all been done=20 By Christ for you and me. This is the way we enter and Enjoy God's very best. The Bible tells us, "BE AFRAID To miss out on this Rest!" *** No burdens on the Sabbath Day To carry all around. If you build your own righteousness, That burden's on you found. To those born from above.
No working on this special Day,
This Day’s a gift of love.
Yes, no work on the Sabbath Day
For it’s a Day of Rest;
A Day we live in all the time.
