And so we run and push away From our Creator, day by day. *** We know we've sinned, we've all done wrong; Our bad behavior list is long. We think, oh, my, look what I've done! I have so much to overcome. And so some try to make a change. Their life they try to rearrange, And live it better, that's their goal, To straighten up their sinful soul. *** To run from God is quite a race, Because, to meet Him face to face Engenders in us, oh, such fear; We're really frightened, that's quite clear. And so some of us run real swift, Because we sense there is a rift Between the Lord and us, you see; And that's the reason why we flee. *** When will we humans realize, That need to run is based on lies? While we were sinners, Jesus died To take away all fear inside. God punished Him for all our sin; Our weaknesses Christ took on Him. When He died on the cross, what grace! God's made peace with the human race! *** And that included me-you, too, Though it seems too good to be true. God holds no sins against us now; With peace He longs to us endow. No need to run, oh, yes, it's true; For God is just not mad at you. Instead, His arms are open wide To welcome you-don't run and hide! *** Just as I am, without one plea, But that Christ's blood was shed for me. This is my song, it's what I say; No need for me to run away. My running's over for I see, Just as I am, the Lord loves me. He'll do the changing I need done, And all because of Christ, His Son. *** It's understandable why some Who don't know truth, from God, they run; But when believers do run, too, It's sad to see what they go through. Have they forgotten who they are? They follow God, but from afar. They fear God's judgment, they've no peace. What is it that made their faith cease? *** They have been moved away, I see, From the gospel's simplicity. ONE sacrifice has blotted out All sins, it's true-oh, please, don't doubt. No fear of judgment for God's child; No broken laws against you filed. Don't run away from God, come home. Draw near to Him, no more to roam. *** No need for running anymore, For God's at peace with you for sure. Christ came, not to condemn the world; Salvation's banner He unfurled. Don't run away but run toward, Toward Him, yes, run to the Lord. He gave you faith, so just believe; His gift of peace now just receive. *** You need not flee, not anymore; Just come to Christ, He is the Door. And through that Door just boldly come Into God's presence, through His Son. God loves you, there's no need to flee. "Oh, please, don't run away from Me!"
