PEACE IN GOD'S PRESENCE

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(2 Kings 6:8-23)
(Isa.9:6-7; Phil.4:6-7; Jn.14:27; Jam.4:8; Josh.1:9; Ps.27:5; Mk.4:39)

***
There's got to be a better way
To live our lives on earth each day;
A better way we need to find,
A way of life, a peaceful kind.
Unless, of course, we've found that way,
And peace rules in the heart each day.
If not, we need to find a life=20
Filled up with peace, not fear and strife.
***
Let's face it, life will have its share
Of trials and things that are not fair.
So life cannot be problem-free;
On that I'm sure we can agree.
But in the midst of all these things,
The good, the bad, what e'er life brings,
It would be good to have great peace;
One that would stay and never cease.
***
Elisha had this peace inside=20
When from a trial he could not hide.
Surrounded by his enemies,=20
They'd come to dear Elisha seize.
He had a peace inside each day,=20
And when this problem came his way,
He panicked not for he did see
God's presence there-so heavenly!
***
His servant had no peace that day
When he saw, much to his dismay,
The soldiers who most surely could
Capture his master, yes, they would.
Elisha prayed his servant see
God's presence there with victory;
And he saw, when he looked around,
That God's presence did them surround.
***
Elisha had this precious peace,
And in his heart it did not cease,
Because he knew that God was there;
He'd put himself in God's great care.
It was God's presence that gave peace,
And gave Elisha great release
From fear that would come naturally,=20
Just like it would to you and me.
***
If this man had great peace that day,
When soldiers threatened him that way,
And if God's presence was the key,
A lesson's there for you and me:
God wants to do the same for us,
If we'll just in His presence trust.
God's presence in Elisha gave
Him power to peacefully behave.
***
In Christians this peace dwells inside,
So if you're one, in Christ abide.
The Prince of Peace has come within=20
Since you agreed to let Him in.
You have believed the gospel's true,=20
Yes, Christ has come to live in you.
"My peace I give to you," He'll say;
"My presence gives you peace each day."
***
The peace Elisha had that time,=20
When soldiers came to do that crime,
Was in the presence of the Lord;
That same peace He'll to us award.
By faith draw near God's presence dear
Inside yourself to drive out fear;
The fear that comes when problems do.
Elisha did and we can, too.
***
Elisha must've lived each day=20
Close to God's presence, come what may.
He was no different humanly,=20
With weaknesses like you and me.
But in God's presence he was strong,
With peace for which so many long.
God's presence, then, it is the key
To having peace abundantly.
***
With Jesus living in your heart,=20
The time is now, the time to start,
To practice always staying near
God's presence in you-year by year.
When troubles come it's there you'll be;
Into God's presence you can flee.
And peace will be your great reward,
That comes from drawing near your Lord.
***
Day after day, so faithfully,=20
Draw near to God and you will see
It will prepare you for the day
When troubles just might come your way.
"Be not afraid, I AM with you,"
Is what God says to me-you, too.
The presence of the Prince of Peace
Is what makes fear "storms" in us cease.
