God was in Christ while He was on that cross He died upon, To reconcile the world to Him by offering up His Son. *** Christ was the only one who lived His life just perfectly. He kept God's laws, yes, every one-so unlike you and me. There never was nor will there be another one like Him; The only perfect sacrifice that God accepts for sin. *** The sins of all humanity were laid upon God's Son. As He hung on that bloody cross, the work for us was done. The work to take our sins away, our debt of sin He paid; And all because the sins of all upon God's Son were laid. *** That cross, two thousand years ago, reached way back into time, To take care of sins in the past as well as yours and mine. It reached ahead in time and space to future ones who'd live. It did not miss a single sin, redemption it did give. *** Born of a woman, Jesus was the only one who had God for His Father, unlike us, who've had a human dad. He was the only one like this who ever lived on earth. He had no human father, virgin Mary gave Him birth. *** Now if he'd had a father who was human, it would mean That He was born in sin like us, from sin He'd not be clean. But He was pure and holy for He was born from above. He came to us through Mary's womb to show the world God's love. *** The great religious leaders of the past lie in the grave. They needed Christ to die for them so their souls He could save. But Christ is different, He arose, and He still lives today; And God says, "My Son's sacrifice, for all sins it did pay." *** This human race we're part of is a sinful race, indeed. That's why forgiveness for our sins was the most urgent need. God punished Jesus in our place, He took our sins away. God showed us mercy through His Son-today's salvation's day. *** God's not holding our sins against us, so the Scriptures say. Oh, world, He's made peace with you, come, receive that peace today. It's just a prayer away, this gift that God offers to you. God showed His love to us by what He let His Son go through. *** The sin issue's been settled, yes, two thousand years ago. Christ opened up the way so that we can to heaven go. He is the Mediator between us and God today. Come to the Father through the Son-Christ is the only way. *** Just open up your heart and say: "Be merciful to me, A sinner, yes, I humbly come to take this gift that's free. Come in, Lord, take up residence inside my heart today.
