To live those future moments in the mind-oh, what a load! *** Why is it, oh, so hard to live one moment at a time? Just trusting God with future ones, a way that is sublime? The problem started years ago, it's been around so long; And all began with words that were so powerful and strong. ** The devil said, You'll be as gods, (or in control they'd be), If they'd eat God's forbidden fruit that grew upon that tree. Those words of Satan, Eve believed, and Adam, he did, too; And those words were passed on to all, to me and-yes-to you. *** You'll be as gods, (you'll have control), words ingrained in the mind; Inherited from Adam, words so powerful, I find. Those words have done a work in us, and that's why it's so hard To give up playing god with future moments that we guard. *** Brainwashed by Satan, by his words-you'll be as gods-you see, Makes us act out those words so wrong, our own god we will be. The power of those words is why we don't to God entrust Our future moments all to Him, on God, our moments thrust. *** If I am in control of all my moments up ahead, I'll need to keep my mind on them, not on right now instead; And that keeps me from living in the present, day by day. One day, one moment at a time, will not become my way. *** This yoke of Adam given us has plagued us much too long. Be your own god? enough of that, of Satan's words so strong! I want my God to be the Lord of future moments now. One moment at a time I'll live, if to God's way I bow. *** And so we need-oh, how we need-renewing of the mind, To overcome the devil's words and find God's way sublime. The yoke of being our own god will be destroyed, it will, By the anointed word of God, a task God will fulfill.=20 *** The word of God will set us free from Satan's words and power. We'll give up playing god each day, each minute and each hour. Be your own god will be replaced with God's way in the mind.
