THE  NUMBER  ONE  FEAR

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Gen.3:1-13; Eph.1:6; Rom.3:23; 8:31;=20
Isa.61:10; 1 Cor.15:3-4; 2 Cor.5:21)

***
It's the number one fear=20
that we have while we're here
on this earth, it's the fear that we'll be
so rejected by peers
and the world-oh, what fears,
and what strife that does cause you and me!
This old fear number one
cannot be overcome
by ourselves, it just won't go away.
Though we try, oh, so hard
to this problem discard,
it won't leave, it's determined to stay.
***
In the Garden, those two,
here's what they tried to do
to insure no rejection there'd be:
they made coverings of leaves,
so each other they'd please;
then their nakedness, each would not see.
And when God came along,
since they knew they'd done wrong,
they both ran and they hid in the trees.
His rejection they feared,
since they had not adhered
to His way, they just did as they please.
***
So, that day, Adam fell
and his wife did as well;
and they passed on to us this great fear.
So an image we build,
since with fear we are filled,
so rejection, to us, won't come near.
The whole world tries to deal
with this problem so real
by creating an image that's good.
If you like what you see
when you look upon me,
you'll accept me-I'd hope that you would.
***
But it's, oh, such a strain
to that image maintain;
for it's phony, it just is not real.
It's a "fig leaf" facade,
and it's really so hard
to let go of-it has such appeal.
What will they think of me,
if the real me they see,
if that image, I just let it go?
A dilemma for sure
will down on me just pour,
if I let go my image, I know.
***
If rejection we fear
from the people down here
on this earth, in this life here below,
then it means that it's true
that we fear the Lord's too;
it's the truth, just believe that it's so.
So acceptance from God,
as through this life we trod,
is the answer, it's our greatest need.
If we have that from Him,
then we won't need to win
it from people, no, we won't, indeed!
***
We've all sinned, yes, we know;
Scriptures tell us it's so.
If we're honest, we'll say, "That is true."
So a covering we need,
so that we can be freed
from rejection-God's covering will do!
And His covering's His Son,
yes, it's Christ, He's the One
who takes fear of rejection away;
for He died for our sin,
and when we let Him in,
we'll be righteous in God's sight each day.
***
When God looks upon me
and His Son He does see,
in my heart He'll see Christ's righteousness.
And He'll not reject me;
never could, don't you see?
But, instead, He will my life just bless.
And the same thing is true,
if He looks upon you
and sees Jesus at home in your heart.
Wrapped in righteousness now,
that the Lord did endow,
and to you this great gift did impart.
***
No more "fig leaf" facade,
no more working so hard
to earn people's acceptance today;
for you're righteous before
your Creator for sure,
and your fears of rejection won't stay.
God is for you, you know,
and if that's really so,
then that fear of rejection will leave.
Maybe not overnight,
but you'll put fear to flight,
as you use faith and really believe.
