I hope you will see this is true. *** Your sins are a burden you never should carry, For they have all been blotted out. They were laid on Jesus, they are removed from you; Forgiven they ALL are, please note. *** The burden of trying to earn God's love for you, It's needless to carry that one; For His love is GIVEN, it's free for the taking, Because of the death of His Son. *** To seek God's acceptance by your good behavior Is useless, though some Christians do. Acceptance is GIVEN because of the Savior, Because Jesus Christ lives in you. *** And trying to keep God appeased is a burden That some Christians carry around. Christ's blood has appeased God, not our good behavior; That burden's not mine, I have found. *** It's a heavy burden to try to make God stay, To fear that your Lord, He might leave. Oh, let that one go now, God says, "I will not go. I promise, to you I will cleave." *** God took all His anger that He had against you, Because of the sins you have done, And put that on Jesus so He could give you peace.=20 Praise God for the gift of His Son! *** Performing for Jesus, now, that's such a burden; That burden's been lifted from you. God is the Performer, let Him work within you, His pleasure to will and to do. *** To try to be righteous by good things that you do, Will burden you down heavily. Our Lord says, "Don't do that! You're righteous already, With righteousness that is of Me." *** The cares of each day can be such heavy burdens, If you take that load upon you. "Cast your cares upon Me, be anxious for nothing," God says, "that's what you need to do." *** So all of these burdens that so many do bear, They all have been lifted off you. Don't take them back on you, they're not yours to carry. God says, "Just believe this is true." *** There is an exception, yes, there are some burdens That Christians should carry always; But they are light burdens, the ones they should carry Upon them the rest of their days. *** And they are the burdens of peace, joy and patience; Of faith and of love--kindness, too.
