MY FATHER WILL STAY

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Josh.1:9; Ps.51:6; 139:7-10; Isa.53:5-6;=20
Nah.1:14; Jn.1:12; 3:3; 8:32,44;=20
Acts 16:31; 26:18; Rom.3:4; 8:38-39;=20
2 Cor.1:20; Gal.4:6; Heb.6:18; 13:5)

***
When I was just a little child,
My father had to go
Away from home, for he was ill;
Life dealt him such a blow.
He left his wife and family,
Through no fault of his own;
And that is why, when I was small,
My daddy left my home.
***
Because my earthly father left,
When I was just a tyke,
It planted in my mind a lie
That that's what God is like.
A Heavenly Father who might leave!
The devil's lie, for sure.
This lie became a heavy load,
A burden that I bore.
***
I came to know my Father God,
When I received His Son;
His Son who took my punishment
For all the wrongs I've done.
This I believed and then I asked
Christ Jesus to come in;
And then I knew I was God's child,
For I was born again.
***
This childhood concept of my God,
That He's a God who'd leave,
Just clung to me for many years,
Though Christ I did receive.
There was a fear inside of me,
Because of this belief.
It's taken, oh, so many years
For me to get relief.
***
It makes a child feel insecure
If he thinks dad might leave.
And, in the same way, Christians, too,
If that's what they believe
About their Heavenly Father God,
That He might go away.
They need a revelation that=20
Their God will always stay.
***
So many Christians have this fear,
The same one that I had;
They fear their Father might leave them,
And be an absent Dad.
They may not realize they do;
It's hidden deep within.
Like me, they need this lie exposed,
So healing can begin.
***
We have, within us, images
Of God that are not true,
And God's the one to knock them down;
That's what He wants to do.
The lie that Satan plants in some,
That God's a God who'll leave,
Can only be cut off by truth,
If they that truth believe.
***
I've found it's true that God has made
My heart His home for good.
And He will never, ever leave;
Oh, no, He never could,
Because the Father promised me
And my Dad cannot lie.
My Abba Father, He's a God
On whom I can rely.
***
Our Father won't abandon us;
Oh, no, He never will.
Though it might feel as if He's gone,
His promise He'll fulfill.
And that's that He will never leave;
He just won't go away.
I'm absolutely sure that He
Is in my heart to stay!
