He always did what Father said, God's words He did fulfill. He gave His life upon the cross to die so willingly, So we could have eternal life, a gift for you and me. *** He did just what His Father said no matter what it was. He knew His Father's ways were best, He knew they were because It fed His soul to do God's will, it was what made Him strong. To not do what His Father asked He knew would be so wrong. *** When Christ was in the wilderness He fasted forty days; Then Satan came and tempted Him to leave His Father's ways. He tempted Him to turn stones into bread so He could eat; But that was not the Father's will, to do that meant defeat. *** "Man shall not live by bread alone," was what the Lord did say To that temptation Satan gave to lead the Son astray. "It's following My Father's words that feeds My soul, you see. To do God's will, it makes Me strong and feeds Me constantly." *** Then Satan tried two other times to lead the Lord astray, But Jesus did His Father's will each time out there that day. There is a lesson here for us, a truth we need to see; And following it will feed our souls and help us spiritually. *** "My meat, it is to do the will of Him that sent Me here." These words Christ told His followers one day as they drew near. This meat-God's will-was food that kept the Son of God so strong; It gave Him strength to give His life so we'd to God belong. *** And therein lies the lesson for believers everywhere: To do God's will is "meat" for you, of this please be aware That even though the way seems hard, you'll find this way is best. To always do your Father's will, will make your life so blessed. *** To make good choices as you live your Christian life each day; To do what God would have you do and not from His will stray; It will be "meat" to feed your soul, to make you strong inside.
