Pierced through with many sorrows is what we will surely be, If we love money, scripture says, oh, from this evil flee! *** Now, Abraham was very rich, and Jacob, he was, too. Job had great wealth, and Joseph, too, when his great trial was through. Their riches were from God, I'm sure, but I'm convinced it's so: With riches they were not in love, they loved God first, I know. *** So having money is not wrong, but if we love it so, So much that we put trust in it, our love for it will grow. And money's sure to let us down, a fickle friend, indeed. The scriptures do a warning give, one that we all should heed. *** The greatest trials that come upon believers, it would seem, Is worry over finances, the lack of them, I mean. The trials concerning other things may bring to us distress, But money problems top the list, they outdo all the rest. *** The Bible says that riches are deceitful, don't you see? If we put trust in them and make them our security. If we should lose our riches, our security will flee. Then trusting in our Father God will not come easily. *** I know someone, a Christian, who's been one for many years, And she's filled with anxiety and suffers many fears. Her money's her security, she's even told me so. And that chokes out the word of God, in His peace she can't grow. *** You can't serve God and money, for together they won't go. Choose one but not the two of them while on this earth below. Of course you know, to serve the Lord is the best thing to do. So just serve Him, not riches, God will provide for you *** Paul said that in all things that he had learned to be content. If he was rich, if he was poor, is what he really meant. To be content is wonderful, but if you love your dough, Contentment will go out the door, though rich or poor, it's so. *** If you've been blessed with riches that you've gotten honestly, Then to your God be thankful, for they come from Him, you see. Your riches may be here today, tomorrow, maybe not; But then, no matter, come what may, thank God for what you've got. *** So loving money means you can't serve God, deceived you'll be; And many sorrows will pierce you, contentment will just flee. Since love of riches chokes the word, then fruit, you will not bear. Why would you choose that way of life, if you for your self care? *** Don't store up riches for yourself, let Christ your treasure be. If riches increase, do not set your heart on your money. For riches can make eagle's wings and fly away, it's true.
