Is happy when the truth wins out; Believes all things and does not doubt. But, sad to say, it's rarely so In this old world down here below; For just the opposite seems true. Look at the unkind things we do: Impatience, jealousy and pride, Self-centeredness spread far and wide. Our love can fail so easily; Love's lacking in humanity. *** The kind of love described above Is absolutely perfect love, And only one man on this earth Had love like that, right from his birth. It's Jesus Christ, of course, you know, That love incarnate here below; God's love expressed through that dear one, Through Christ on earth, through God's dear Son. We cannot duplicate that love, That love sent to us from above. Oh, human love can't come close to This love divine, please know it's true.=20 *** Divine love was on great display Back there on Crucifixion Day. No greater love was ever shown, When Jesus did for sins atone. He took them all so we could be Forgiven, cleansed and truly free. He was God's Lamb from up above,=20 Revealing sacrificial love; And just before our Savior died, "Forgive them, Father," Jesus cried. He rose again on Easter Day. Oh, love divine, what a display! *** And so we need the Spirit of The Son of God to shed this love Abroad in us, to us impart, This love divine inside our heart. His love is ours, a gift to us, If we will in Christ put our trust. Since for our sins, He paid the price, Now we can be in paradise. Your unbelief is what is wrong. Believe in Christ so you'll belong To God, for all eternity; And have this love, God's love that's free. *** Christ's Spirit comes to live in us, In those who in Christ put their trust. His Spirit is this love divine; This love, this supernatural kind. It's His, not ours, but it can flow Through us as we walk here below. Yes, we can be a channel of This love divine, this perfect love. The world is really searching for This love divine, yes, more and more; And how they'll see this love so true Is when it shines through me, through you. *** If God's love lives inside of you, What is it that you need to do To show the world this love divine? To show it through your life--and mine? Don't try to conjure up your own; Divine love is the Lord's alone. Stay close to Christ, on Him just lean, If you want this love to be seen.
