Your punishment, Christ took for you--oh, this I'm sure you've learned. You know you're saved because Christ died, He took away your sin. He lost His life for you . . . but . . . have you lost your life for = Him? *** What does it mean to lose my life?--that really sounds so hard! It means I must cease from my works, yes, those I must discard. I must cease from the works I do to try and make things right Between the Lord and me each day, and walk by faith not sight. *** Salvation is maintained by God, by Him and Him alone. I can't be in control of that, this fact should be well known. If I have lost my life it means I'll let self-effort go. If I've laid down my life for God, I've given up control. *** If I think being good is what will make me right with God, And if I think my works for that are efforts He'll applaud, Then that means that I have not lost my life of trying hard To earn acceptance from the Lord--that way I should discard. *** Christ made peace at the cross, He did, between my God and me. His peace toward me is because Christ died on Calvary. If I have lost my life it means that I'll no longer try To keep my Lord appeased with me--I'll live a life that's high. *** There's nothing now that you can do, your righteousness to make. It has to be a gift from God, one that you need to take. So lose your life and just say this: "Christ did it all for me!" Lay down your life, just rest in what He did on Calvary's tree. *** Don't struggle hard to try and be more loving and more kind, For then the Holy Spirit's fruit just might be hard to find. Oh, lose your life and just let God bring forth HIS fruit in you. Abide in Christ's life, not your own--an easy thing to do. *** Let God be in control for He has done it all, you know, To make you what you need to be--in this truth, please, just grow. This is your cross that you should bear, an easy yoke, you'll see, For laying down your life for Him lets you live joyfully. *** Christ's perfect life is everything, yes, everything we'll need; His life is in believers' hearts, yes, it is there, indeed.
