THE JOY-ROBBER

By "Rebekah" the Bride

I don't think Christians realize that demons come around,
When they complain and murmur, yes, though this might them astound.
Complaining, for us Christians, is a way that we will bring
The darkness right into our lives-a devastating thing!

The angels of the Lord, they really love to be around
The Christians who are praising God, who make a joyful sound.
The praises of His people God inhabits, Scriptures say;
But murmuring-complaining-makes His angels go away.

Complaining is a hallmark of the world, we need to see;
Yes, people of the world complain and murmur--excellently!
Conformed to this world, Scriptures say, we Christians should not be;
Instead, we should be thanking God and live life joyfully.

Let's check our conversations, could it be we're not aware
That we have let the darkness in, that we've not taken care
Of our life, yes, our precious life, so precious to our Lord?
To murmur and complain is something we just can't afford!

Complaints about the government, the weather-hot or cold;
Or that long line we waited in, or our car that's so old;
Our boss, our job, our neighbor, are they ones complained about?
That lets the darkness in our lives and pushes the light out.

The demons of the darkness would away from Christians flee,
If we'd stop our complaining and be thankful constantly.
If praise, instead of murmuring, becomes part of each day,
Then that will chase out darkness and we'll walk a better way.

Complaining takes away our joy and murmuring does, too.
It leaves depression in its place-a bad exchange for you.
Let's monitor the words we speak, the thoughts we think each day,
And see if, maybe, murmuring has stolen joy away.

If only we would realize we have an enemy,
Who loves to hear us murmur and complaining constantly.
To steal, to kill and to destroy are Satan's goals, you know;
But praise instead of murmuring will make the darkness go.

If Christians in their city or their village or their town,
Would just stop all complaining and all murmuring shut down,
The King of Glory would come in, He'd enter through the gate,
Into that town in which they live-wow-then they'd celebrate!

Let's take one day and monitor our speech and thoughts each minute;
Evaluate our day, see if there is complaining in it.
Oh, thankfulness and praising God are weapons we can use,
Against the darkness every day, a way that we can CHOOSE!

To free ourselves from murmuring so victory we will win,
Let's keep our eyes on Jesus and just keep our thoughts on Him.
Obedience in this one thing will transformation bring.
The sacrifice of praise we will to God be offering.

God hates this sin that's like a plague that robs us of our peace.
Let's wake up-heed the warning-let complaining in us cease!
Avoid it like it's leprosy that eats our joy away.
Let's thankful, non-complainers be, at home, at work, at play.
