Focusing on other things, Like my problems that life brings, Only tends to take away God's peace that I need each day. *** Practice your Lord's presence dear. Christian, will you just draw near To the Lord who's inside you? It's an easy thing to do. You'll an overcomer be, For there's always victory In God's presence, that's the place, As you run the Christian race. *** "Die to self!" so many say; "Crucify yourself each day!" Yet that gives no victory, As you've surely come to see. But there is a better way: Make your thoughts on your God stay; Then less self you'll start to see. Doing that brings victory. *** It's so simple that it's hard, For we don't like to discard Carnal thinking that seems right: ("Battle sin with all your might!") Overcoming sin's been done On the cross, by Christ, God's Son. Simply keep your thoughts on Him, And He'll break your bonds of sin. *** Consciousness of self will flee, As you do this faithfully. Consciousness of God restored, As you focus on your Lord. He is there, He'll always be; Never will He from you flee. As you keep your mind on Him, Joy will well up from within. *** Christ will live His life through you, As this simple "work" you do. Just let your thoughts go toward The direction of the Lord, And behold Him there inside; Let God be your place to hide. When the storms your life surround, In this safe place you'll be found. *** We're the branches, Christ's the Vine; Fruit will be on yours and mine, As we keep our minds on Him, On His life (not ours) within. It's the way to just abide In the Vine, Christ's life inside. Bearing fruit comes easily On our lives for all to see. *** If God's company you keep, What a harvest you will reap! Love and joy and peace for you; Patience that's long overdue. In the Spirit you will walk; It will be more than just talk. As you keep your mind each day On the Lord--there let it stay. *** Contemplating Christ in me, Is the way that I will be Ready for the coming days; Seeking Him in all my ways. God will handle life for me; From that burden I'll be free. On my shoulders won't be found, All that weight to carry round. *** Be alone with Christ, take time, Just to at His feet recline. Having Jesus on my mind,
Is the only way, I find,
