But, oh, your dear Heavenly Father, He never will fail you, you'll see; For He is a wonderful Father, And He loves you perfectly. If your human father has left you, And not been a part of your life, And you have felt so much abandoned, And filled with such sorrow and strife, Then know that your Heavenly Father, He never will walk out on you. He promises He'll never leave you, So please just believe that is true. If you had a bad earthly father Who didn't provide things for you, The many things that you had needed, Like guidance, protection and food, Then know that your Heavenly Father, A real good Provider is He; And all that you need He will give you, If you will but trust Him, you'll see. If you had a bad human father Whose drinking caused much family strife, Who gave to you and your siblings A terribly miserable life, Then know that your Heavenly Father's Dear heart was just aching, it's true; And, oh, how He wished that your father Had not caused such problems for you. If you had a father who used you By doing things dads shouldn't do, And if he has never admitted That he did those wrong things to you, Then know that your Heavenly Father Has had His heart broken, it's true, To know that the father He gave you Has done, oh, such bad things to you. If you had a good human father Who loved and took good care of you, Yes, one who has never misused you, And one who respected you, too, Yet still there's a vacuum inside you That human love just cannot fill, Then only the Heavenly Father Can fill that big space, yes, He will. This love of the Heavenly Father That fills that big vacuum within, Can only be seen when we look at The Savior who died for our sin; For no greater love could our Lord show, There's no greater love, it is true, Than to offer your father forgiveness For all things that he did to you. If you've been a bad human father, And now you will say that is true, Just know that your sin has been paid for; And God offers pardon to you. Admit what you've done to your children, And humble yourself before Him. God then will restore you to wholeness; He'll no more remember your sin. Our life on this earth is imperfect; Bad fathers and good there are, too. And that is because God gives freedom To fathers to CHOOSE what to do.
