Most people aren't aware of this. They do not hear God say: "I really want to talk to you; I long for you to be A listener to the words I speak. Oh, listen, please, to Me!" *** If God wants us to hear His voice, Why is it we don't hear? It seems the Great Creator's voice Should really be so clear. It should be such an easy thing For His voice to get through. Why is it hard for His voice to Be heard by me--you, too? *** For many years I did not hear God speaking just to me. I realize now it was because I feared Him terribly. I knew I'd sinned and so I thought He'd surely point that out. Why should I listen if I felt That's what He'd talk about? *** But I'm so glad that I was wrong About what God would say. He wanted just to tell me that Christ took my sins away; And that I could become His child, If I would just believe. Those words were wonderful to hear; So easy to receive! *** But now that I'm a Christian, There is so much more to hear; For God's still speaking all the time, And His voice I don't fear. God really wants to guide my life, So I should make a choice To learn to listen more and more, So that I'll hear His voice. *** Oh, God's voice always builds us up, And never puts us down. His voice will comfort and bring peace; This is what I have found. And even when our ways are wrong And from His will we stray, He'll say, "My child, I love you still; Let Me show the right way." *** God's voice is still and it is small, So quiet we must be, If we are going to hear Him speak His word to you and me. But, sad to say, so many Christians Do not hear God's voice. They don't take time to quiet down, And that's a foolish choice. *** In quietness shall be your strength, The Bible, it does say; And those who listen to God's voice, Shall safely dwell each day. So quietness before the Lord And listening to His voice, Will make you strong and keep you safe. Now, that's cause to rejoice! *** Oh, quiet, quiet you should be To hear what God will say. Just still your soul and listen to What's being said today. God wants to lead each one of you Beside the waters still; And there you'll hear God speak to you. Your heart with joy will fill. *** I know it's hard for some of you To really find the time To go apart and just be still, But you will really find That even if the time is short, But of good quality, That little time you take to hear, A blessing it will be. *** The pace of life in this old world Is noisy and it's fast, So quieting down and going slow Is really quite a task; But just to hear God say to you: "I really love you so!"
