This fruit's a description of our God's true nature, A God that we should get to know; And if we are Christians, God's fruit is inside us, For God's there, just know that it's so. *** You need revelation of your God's true nature, To know this God inside of you; For that's what will change you and make you like Jesus, To be that creation that's new. And when you shall see Him, then you will be like Him, For you'll see Him just as He is. Then He'll get the glory for your transformation; You'll know it's not your fruit--it's His! *** The fruit of God's Spirit is love, joy and patience; It's goodness and humility. There's self-control, kindness, there's faith and then there's peace, Which shows us what God's like, you see. This wondrous description of our God's true nature=20 Is something to just think about; So let's meditate on the fruit of God's Spirit, Then His praises we'll surely shout. *** Our God is so loving with love that is perfect. Imagine! We're loved perfectly! We don't deserve God's love, we surely can't earn it, Yes, God gives this fruit of love free. Just think of the sacrifice Jesus Christ offered, As He took our sins' punishment. While we were yet sinners our Lord on the cross died; What love He has to us all sent! *** The Word says our God will rejoice over His own; With singing He'll "joy over thee." The joy that He has over us will give such strength; His fruit of joy toward you and me. God has peace toward us, God is at peace with us; He's made peace with all on the earth. Yes, Christ is the Prince of Peace and He lives inside All those who have had the new birth. *** The Lord's loving kindness is better than life, And with kindness He crowns us each day. To live with a Father who's kind to His children, Is wonderful, wouldn't you say? The Lord is so good to us, surely His goodness=20 Will follow us all of our days. Yes, He is so good and His mercy endureth forever, So let's give God praise. *** Christ said, "I am meek and I'm lowly," yes, humble; It's fruit that's called humility. This fruit of God's Spirit is resting inside you; And Christ says, "Oh, come, learn of Me." Your Lord is the Author of faith and inside you Is all the faith you'll ever need. There's no doubt in that faith, no doubt whatsoever, In this fruit of faith you've received. *** Our God is the Source of the self-control He gives To those in whose hearts He does live. We really need this fruit to show forth in our life; This fruit that our God loves to give. Our God is so patient with patience toward us; I know He is patient with me. To think that His patience is living inside me! With God it's so easy to be. *** Oh, Christian, just think of this fruit that's inside you! It's fruit of the Lord--all full-grown! So sweet to our taste is the fruit of God's Spirit; It's His fruit, yes, His fruit alone.
