If you're a Christian, it's for you. This rest, it is our "promised land," Where we can enter in and stand; A rest God hopes His children choose. I pray that you will hear this news. *** This rest, you can be in on earth, If you have had the second birth. No waiting til you die, you see; The time is NOW for you and me. The Bible says it very clear, That this is something we should fear: That we won't enter in and find This rest, this very glorious kind. *** God rested on the seventh day From all His works, the scriptures say; And we must from our own works rest, To have this way of life that's best. To cease from our works, that's the key To entering the rest, you see. That's what we need to understand To enter in this rest so grand. *** What are the works we must cease from So we can into this rest come? It's stopping ANYTHING you do To earn the love God has for you. God loves you unconditionally; You must know that His love is free. No matter what you say or do, God always will have love for you. *** Salvation, you need not maintain; Your work for that will be in vain. For Christ does that for you, you see, So you can have security In knowing that the blood He shed Has paid the price, and God has said: "You're saved by grace and not by deeds." Your work for that, God never needs. *** God's gift of righteousness is free; It is a gift from Calvary. Your righteousness, it has been won, And given to you by God's Son. If you work hard to do what's right, Though you try hard both day and night, Those works cannot be added to The righteousness that God gave you. *** So many work to please the Lord, Because they feel they can't afford To risk the chance that God might get Angry with them and be upset. They try to keep their God appeased, To always keep the Lord so pleased; But you must cease from works you do To try and keep God's peace with you. *** Peace is a gift that God GIVES you; He made peace at the cross, it's true. And if you work to gain that peace, It means from works you've yet to cease. Which means you'll not enter the rest; You'll not enjoy life at its best. To try to earn God's peace that's free, Is really unbelief, you see. *** Yes, unbelief is what keeps you From ceasing from your works, it's true. But if you want to lay aside Your works and in God's rest abide, Just willingly believe it's true That Christ has done it ALL for you. Oh, what a peace o'er you will come As you trust in God's precious Son. *** If you are on a spiritual quest, Don't stop until you find this rest. Labor to enter, scriptures say, But labor in the proper way. To labor is to just BELIEVE! It is a work to just receive The truth that Christ is ALL you need; Then you'll find rest, oh, rest, indeed. *** If Christians never enter rest, They still are saved and heaven-blessed; But just think what God's Son went through To give this glorious rest to you! Today, if you will hear God's voice, Enter that rest, make that good choice. Don't harden your heart, scriptures say.
