GLORIFY THE LORD

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Jn.15:4-8,11,16; Isa.54:17; 61:10; 2 Cor.5:21; Heb.4:10;=20
Rom.7:4; Gal.5:22-23; Jam.4:8; Ps.16:11; 73:28; S.of S.2:3)

***
There is a way that we can glorify the Lord above;
One written in the scriptures that I'd like to tell you of.
To glorify the Lord is such a lovely, noble aim,
So let's learn how to do it, then we'll glorify His name.
***
Can we bring glory to the Lord by good things that we do?
By working hard to serve Him and by sacrificing, too?
If we would find the answer, then we really need to look
To see what's said about it, what the Lord says in His Book.
***
To find the answer let us look into the book of John.
In chapter fifteen we will find the scripture to look on,
So that we'll see the way that will bring glory to our Lord.
To miss out on this teaching is one thing we can't afford.
***
It tells us that if we bear fruit, disciples we will be;
And bearing fruit is how to glorify our Lord, you see.
There's love, peace, joy, humility, patience and kindness, too.
There's faith, goodness and self-control--the Spirit's fruit for you.
***
Now, bearing fruit is not how many souls that we have won.
It's not the things we do for God, the great works we have done.
When God sees us filled with His peace and joy and love each day,
Then that is how we glorify the Lord, that is the way.
***
Oh, how God loves to see His children filled up with His peace,
And all His Spirit's precious fruit, He wants these not to cease.
God wants the fruit to just remain, He wants His fruit to stay,
Upon the branches of our lives and never go away.
***
If this is how we glorify the Lord we need to know
The way that we can bear His fruit and get that fruit to show.
"Abide in Me and just you let My words abide in you,"
Is what the Lord, in John, fifteen, tells us we need to do.
***
And here's how we abide in Him: It's really just to rest
From any works we try to do to build our righteousness.
God's made us righteous in His sight and now we can abide;
Abide in our Lord's righteousness so He'll be glorified.
***
Stay close to Jesus, just lean on His Life inside of you.
Depend on His life, not your own, in everything you do.
Don't try to live the Christian life in your own strength, you see.
Lean on your Lord within you, oh, lean on Him constantly.
***
Spend time with God, alone with Him, under His shadow sit.
Then God's fruit will begin to show, you'll get a taste of it.
It's in the presence of the Lord that full joy will be found.
Abide in Christ and then your life with God's fruit will abound.
***
God wants you peaceful and He wants you filled up with His love;
Oh, how He longs to see you full of His joy from above;
Plus all His Spirit's other fruit, then He'll be glorified.
You'll SURELY bear the Spirit's fruit, if you, in Christ, abide.
