And in exchange He gives to those Who do believe in Him, A righteousness that comes from God; Free righteousness within. *** Oh, righteousness, it is a gift That's given free, you see, To all those who believe in Christ Who've received willingly. Our righteousness, it is of God, It does not come from us. Although it's hard to understand, In this we need to trust. *** Believers say, "I know God says That when He looks at us He sees that we are righteous; But it is so hard to trust That what He says is really true, Because of what we see. We just see flaws and weaknesses Within God's family." *** Believers need to make a choice To believe willingly, That truth is really what God says, Not what they feel and see. That's what it means to walk by faith, And with God to agree. This faith, God is so pleased to see Within His family. *** Oh, Christian, if you're willing to, Just walk this faithful way, And say, "I'm righteous in the Lord On each and every day." And know the righteousness you claim All comes from Christ, not you. God's word says you will dwell in peace, And what He says is true. *** To think that God has given me Christ's righteousness for free! It's hard for me to understand Why He's so good to me!
