Oh, what a glorious trade! Not just forgiven, even though That's wonderful good news, But made the righteousness of God, Because our God did choose To give His only Son for us, Oh, what a sacrifice! Forgiven and made righteous, All because Christ paid the price. The Scriptures tell us, if Christ's Spirit Does not dwell within, Then that one's not a Christian, For they have not asked Christ in. But those who have repented And believed the gospel's true, Have Christ inside and so His righteousness is in them, too. So many Christians know=20 That they're forgiven, yes, they do; But . . . that God's made them righteous?! Many can't believe it's true. To think God sees them flawless, All because of what Christ did, Is true, and their arch enemy Tries hard to keep it hid. "I know that I'm forgiven, And I'm surely heaven-bound," Most Christians say so easily, And confident they sound. But saying, "I'm a righteous person In my Father's eyes," Is hard for some to say, Because it seems they're telling lies. Some think there's surely something That the Lord would have them do, To make and keep them righteous In their God's sight, yes, it's true. They see their fleshly weaknesses, So it does not seem real That God sees them as righteous; For that's not the way they feel. Now God's declared you righteous, If Christ's Spirit dwells in you. What God says is reality; He always says what's true. The righteousness God sees is Christ's, A gift-nothing you earn. Forgiven and made righteous! Such a precious truth to learn. "Full" gospel-not just half of it- Is what you need to know. Don't leave the last half out of it; If you do, you'll not grow. So grow in grace, grow in the truth, And confidently say: "I'm made the righteousness of God In Christ, yes, every day!" Believers, when we boldly say, We're righteous in God's sight, It's not because of what we do, Or don't do, that we're right. Christ in us is our righteousness. It's humbling but true To think we must depend on Christ, And not on what we do. It pleases God when Christians say: "Forgiven, yes, I am. Past, present, future-all my sins- Were laid on Christ, God's Lamb." And also pleased is God when we Believe that He made us The righteousness of God in Christ, When we in Christ did trust. This is the gospel that is "full"; Believe it for it's true. Forgiven and made righteous, Both are gifts God GAVE to you. Oh, God, convince believers That they're righteous in Your sight.
