FEAR  OF  FAILING  GOD

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(2 Tim.1:7; 1 Jn.4:18; Isa.53:5-6; Heb.10:17
Num.23:21; Rom.5:1; Eph.2:4)

***
Are you afraid of failing God?
Afraid to let God down?
A fear that's such a heavy load
To carry all around?
Are you afraid He'll punish you
For failing Him down here?
Is this what often plagues you now,
And fills your heart with fear?
***
So many children of the Lord
Are suffering from this fear.
I carried this fear round myself
Inside for many a year.
How did this fear originate?
Where does this fear come from?
The answers to these questions now
Will help us overcome.
***
This fear of failing God, you know,
It comes from unbelief;
And when you really see this truth,
It will bring you relief.
And when you get relief from this,
A load will lift from you.
It's time to have this fear removed,
A time long overdue.
***
When Jesus died upon the cross,
For our sins He did pay.
Past, present, future, all our sins,
He took away that day.
And that included failures, too,
So we need never fear
His punishment for failing Him.
Oh, this I hope you hear.
***
So if you've really come to Christ,
And He now lives in you,
God's punishment for failures
You need never fear, it's true.
But you must put your faith to work;
You must use your belief,
If you want this fear to be gone,
And from it have relief.
***
Some Christians fail and then they hate
Themselves for what they've done.
"Disgusted with me, God must be,"
These words I've heard from some.
But since Christ lives within their heart
They're not condemned by Him.
Instead, He wants to lift them up
So victory they will win.
***
Please don't base your relationship
With God on what you do,
For when you fail, you'll surely feel
That God might punish you.
We should learn to relate to God
By what Christ did for us;
He took our punishment for sin,
And in that we should trust.
***
And we as Christians, we all fail
The Lord from time to time,
Because our flesh is, oh, so weak;
I know that's true of mine.
But dwelling on our weaknesses
Is not the way to go.
It's focusing upon our Lord;
Then in His strength we'll grow.
***
So when you fail, now, please don't feel
That God is mad at you.
God is at peace with us;
Because of Christ, believe it's true.
If we succeed or if we fail,
His peace with us will stay;
And when we fail, He's willing
To show us a better way.
***
God isn't a hard taskmaster
Who scolds you when you fail.
Your Lord is so compassionate;
He'll not against you rail.
Your failure-fear will start to go
When you see this is true.
God's mercy shown you at the cross,
It never will fail you.
