A FAITHFUL HUSBAND

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Rev.21:2,9; 19:11; Jn.3:3,29; 14:27; Isa.61:10; 62:5; 1 Cor.6:17; =
12:13;=20
Eph.1:7; Heb.4:10; 8:12; 10:23; 11:11; 13:5; Phil.4:7; Matt.6:25,26)

If you're a faithful husband and your wife thinks you're untrue,
Now that would hurt you, wouldn't it, that she'd think that of you?
It really would be, oh, so wrong for her to think that way.
"I'm faithful and I'm true to you!" to her, you'd want to say.

Now, Christians have a Husband, yes, those born from up above.
God's Spirit has been wed to theirs, He's joined to them in love.
They've been forgiven for their sins, from them they've been set free;
And they have let Him in where He will live eternally.

They're members of Christ's Body now, they're called His precious Bride.
They have a Faithful Husband who has come to live inside.
There's never been a husband who's so faithful and so true.
To be unfaithful to His Bride, He vows He'll never do.

One thing this Husband wants His wife to know, that's really true:
He says to her, "I'll never leave, I'll not abandon you."
But many times her feelings say, "I think He's gone away."
Yet, that's not true, it's only that her thinking's gone astray.

She had a fallen nature that was loaded down with sin,
But she was cleansed from all of that when her Husband came in.
Her Spouse says, "I will not remember your sins any more";
But yet, at times, His faithfulness, she doubts, she is not sure.

He clothes His Bride with righteousness, like linen, pure and white;
And says, "My dear, I always see you righteous in My sight."
But does she trust His faithful words by ceasing from her works
To build up her own righteousness?--if not, doubt in her lurks.

A peace that can't be understood, Christ gives to His dear Bride.
One she can't earn, He has for her, He gives her peace inside.
But many times she looks within, her weaknesses to see;
Then she might doubt her Faithful One and think, "He's mad at me!"

This Faithful Husband tells His Bride, "I'll take good care of you;
I will provide your daily bread and needs you have, it's true."
But yet this promise is the hardest one for us to trust.
Sometimes we doubt His faithful words that He'll provide for us.

There are some human husbands on this earth who faithfully
Fulfill the vows that they have made to their wives constantly;
But there has never, ever been a husband quite so true,
As your dear Lord, who always keeps the vows He's made to you.

Space won't permit but I could list more vows God's made to us;
But, oh, if we would only our dear precious Husband trust.
It hurts Him, yes, it saddens Him when His Bride's filled with doubt,
About her Husband's faithfulness to bring His vows about.

Oh, please, just trust this Faithful One who lives inside of you,
To keep all of His promises and vows He said He'd do.
If feelings try to make you doubt, still, you trust faithfully,
Your Husband will be filled with joy about this constantly.
