FAINTING IN MY MIND

By "Rebekah" the Bride

(Heb.12:2-3; Isa.26:3; 40:31; Matt.6:34; Prov.4:23;=20
1 Pet.5:7; Phil.4:6-7; Ps.139:17-18)

I really am inclined
to fainting in my mind,
when I think of things up ahead,
things I don't like, things I might dread.
Defeated in my mind
I get, and then I find
the future's overwhelming me
with things ahead I cannot see.

Defeated from the start,
if I don't guard my heart,
from bad thoughts about future things,
and whatever tomorrow brings.
My mind's a battlefield,
when to those thoughts I yield;
I live tomorrow in my mind,
which takes its toll on me, I find.

The future's in God's hands;
I know He understands
that in my flesh I am not strong
to overcome those thoughts so wrong.
But yet there is a way,
and that's if my thoughts stay
upon God each day constantly,
my mind won't faint, I'll be set free.

So simple yet so hard
to just take and discard
my thoughts of possibilities
of future problems my mind sees;
and put my mind upon
the Father and the Son,
who live in me since I'm God's child.
They'll keep my thoughts from going wild.

Since God is here today,
there really is no way
that He won't be there down the road--
oh, worry's such a heavy load!
The fact that He'll be there--
my future's in His care--
should be enough to make me know
fear of the future needs to go.

With thoughts on God, you'll find,
that He'll control your mind.
With peace He'll fill it constantly
about tomorrow, you will see.
This is a "work" for you;
something YOU need to do.
No fainting in your mind there'll be;
fear of the future has to flee.

God's word says, if your mind
is on God, you will find
that you'll be kept in perfect peace;
fear of the future, it will cease.
But you must do your part;
you need to really start
to practice thinking of your Lord,
so His peace on you can be poured.

Live one day at a time
with Jesus on your mind.
Though there's a future feared event,
to worry's time that's poorly spent.
No fainting in the mind;
that will be left behind,
as you spend time with God who's there,
who always has you in His care.

God's presence is with you;
think of Him, oh, please do,
for He thinks of you constantly,
it says in David's psalm, you see.
Tomorrow's in His hands;
He'll meet all life's demands.
Faint in your mind, no more you'll do;
and God will handle life for you.
