This land that God would give to them was such a special one. *** In that land God had promised them there were no wells to dig. The cities were all built for them, the vineyards, they were big. And olive trees were there for them, the planting was all done; and houses full of all good things for each and every one. *** We know by reading in God's word that they did not go in. They entered not this restful land and that was such a sin. Their unbelief was what was wrong for God to them had said: "I'll take you in, don't be afraid"-they doubted God instead. *** Now, there's a land, a "promised land," that Christians can possess. This land is love and joy and peace in which to live . . . unless . . .=20 their unbelief gets in the way and keeps them from this place; this land that has the Spirit's fruit that's GIVEN by God's grace. *** Just think! A land with full-grown fruit, fruit that we need not grow! Imagine! Living in a place where peace and joy just flow! Why would we turn away from that and say, "I won't go in!"? If we do that, it's unbelief and unbelief is sin! *** Christ says to us, "Abide in Me and I'll abide in you." That's how to enter in this land, this fruitful land so true. This means that we no longer function independently; instead, we lean upon Christ's life inside of you and me. *** And that's a "giant" problem for us Christians, it would seem; because it means, give up control and on the Lord just lean. And giving up control is something we don't want to do. Let's face the fact, be honest now, just say, "That's really true." *** And at the root of this control, I think that you will see, there's pride and there's self righteousness inside of you and me. It's hard to just believe the work's been done FOR you and me, to give us God's acceptance, yes, for all eternity. *** Cease from your works to make yourself more righteous in God's sight. The righteousness of Christ's enough and it will keep you right. This giant leap of faith will overcome the giants there, within the land, this promised land, cease working-do you dare? *** It is a scary thing, I've found, a "giant" big and tall, to just let go and trust there's nothing we can do at all to keep our Lord at peace with us, no matter how we try. Christ's blood alone made peace for us-praise God that Christ did die! *** And Christ arose and resurrection life now lives in you, if you've received His sacrifice, which means you're made brand new. Give up control so this new life, this fruitful land inside, is one in which you'll enter in and in Christ's fruit abide. *** Give up your works for righteousness, yes, give up your control. Believe the finished work of Christ, say, "It's well with my soul."
