To feel secure in this old world you really need to know,

That God is always there with you wherever you may go.

If you’re not sure of this one thing, when things get very tough,

You’ll feel like an abandoned child and life will be so rough.

It is God’s presence in your life that makes you feel secure;

So what is it that makes you say, "He’s here, I’m very sure"?

It’s when you know Christ paid the price, He took your sins on Him;

And when you’ve opened up your heart and let Him dwell within.

When Christ comes in, He promises, "I’ll never go away."

He also says to you and me, "I mean just what I say."

Our Lord would never lie to us so you can know it’s true,

That He will never, ever leave, He’ll always stay with you.

You can be sure there will be times you’ll say, "I think He’s gone."

But know your feelings sometimes lie, they can be, oh, so wrong.

This is a time for you to trust in what your Lord does vow.

A time to put your faith to work and say, "He’s with me now."

There will be those who say to you, "A warning I must give.

God staying with you all the time depends on how you live."

But then you really need to say, "Now who should I believe?

Should I believe what this one says, when God said He won’t leave?"

If God will only stay with me when I do what I should,

Then when I fail Him I will think He’s surely left for good.

But we all fail from time to time, we honestly must say;

Because we’re weak, that’s why we need the Lord with us to stay.

God doesn’t say, "I’ll stay with you if you will promise Me

To always, always live your life, just live it perfectly."

He places no conditions on what He says He’ll do.

He promises to never leave and to His word He’s true.

So am I saying it’s okay to sin because you know,

No matter what you say or do, your Lord will never go?

Oh, no, I’m not, but just know this, it’s knowing He will stay

That makes you want to do His will on each and every day.

I do not think we realize what it means to our God,

When we believe what He has said, our faith He does applaud.

And when He says, "I’ll never leave," it’s what He’ll never do.

It pleases Him so very much when we believe it’s true.

So if you want to feel secure as on this earth you live,

Then just believe that God is there, this promise He did give.

To know that He is always there, it makes a change in you.

You’ll find you’ll want to follow Him in all you say and do.
