Oh, Christian, do you take the time to listen to your Lord?
Since Jesus lives inside of you, you really can’t afford
to miss out on the Savior’s words that He might say to you.
His words are spirit and they’re life, transforming work they’ll do.
***
God speaks in such a still, small voice that often we don’t hear,
because we’re busy and don’t stop to take time to draw near;
to draw near to our precious Lord to hear what He might say.
Although He’s speaking all the time, His voice gets pushed away.
***
Some do not listen to the Lord for in their heart they fear
that God’s words might be negative, words they won’t want to hear.
But mainly what God wants to say is, "Child, I love you so";
but how can these words get through if we’re always on the go?
***
Your life might be so busy with your family and your job.
The things you do are needed, but, oh, please, don’t let them rob
you of that time, that quiet time, with God who dwells in you.
To give God top priority is the best thing to do.
***
Or you might have a ministry that God has called you to,
and maybe you’re so busy with all those good things you do
that you don’t take the time you should to in God’s presence be;
But if you do, I think you’ll have a better ministry.
***
If you’re someone who feels you must keep busy every minute,
and only when you’re sleeping does your life have quiet in it,
it might mean that you’re running from the Lord whose child you are.
You may be one who follows God—but follows from afar.
***
The world is running from the Lord, a rat race some are in.
And children of the Heavenly King, who’ve been set free from sin,
are in the world, yet not of it, but it’s so sad when they
run in this race because they get caught in that worldly way.
***
What will it take for you to stop and listen to God speak?
An illness, a calamity, to cause you God to seek?
God just might use the trials of life to your attention get.
A "blessing" in disguise might come, your schedule to upset.
***
One great reward for listening to the God who lives in you
Is: You’ll dwell safely and be free from fear of evil, too.
Just think of that! To safely dwell in this old world so bad;
and not to fear the evil things—this makes my heart so glad!
***
Our God says, "Just be still and know, just know that I am God."
If you get still before your Lord, the angels will applaud;
and then you’ll listen and you’ll hear Him say, "I long for you."
So spend time in His presence now, your spirit He’ll renew.
***
The Lord is in His Holy House, His Holy Temple—you!
Let all the earth a silence keep, and that includes you, too.
In quietness and confidence will be your strength, you know.
A quiet spirit you will have while on this earth below.
