BE LIKE A
LILY
By "Rebekah" the Bride
(Matt.6:27-28; 11:28-29; Jn.3:16; S.of S.2:16;
6:3)
Oh, be just like a lily,
Dear children of the King,
Not spinning and not toiling
To grow up in the Spring.
Consider how this flower
Grows so beautifully,
And then you’ll know the secret
Of life abundantly.
Oh, who by working hard
Can cause himself to grow?
Oh, who by toiling endlessly,
You mean well, yes, I know.
But in His word God says,
Like lilies we should be.
More glorious than King Solomon
You’ll be arrayed, you’ll see.
The work has all been done
By Christ on Calvary,
And now there’s nothing left to do;
Salvation’s given free.
"Come unto Me and rest,"
The Savior says to thee.
Stop toiling and spinning;
Like a lily you can be.
In Solomon’s Song it says,
Your Shepherd feeds, you see,
Down among the lilies,
That’s where He loves to be.
So if you want to grow,
Then to His wishes yield.
You’ll be right there by Him
With the lilies of the field.
The sun that shines above,
The rain that falls below,
Is what God sends a lily
To make it really grow.
The lesson here is that,
God does it all, you see.
He’ll do the same for us;
Like lilies we can be.
Oh, Lord, I thank You for
This lesson given me,
That while I’m here on earth,
A lily I can be.
I need not toil or spin,
It’s only rest for me;
For Jesus did the work
