Our Mighty God is such a Friend,

Who sticks with us right to the end;

A Friend you just can call out to,

And He’ll come running up to you.

 

To think the One who made it all,

Will come to help when I just call.

It just amazes me to see

That God is such a Friend to me.

 

God’s friendship is just like no other,

For He sticks closer than a brother.

A truer Friend there’ll never be;

A Friend for all eternity.

 

But did you know that you can be

A friend to God? Oh, yes, you’ll see.

Lay down your life, on His depend;

And then He’ll say you are His friend.

 

Although He is a Friend to me,

A friend to Him I want to be.

What does it mean to be God’s friend,

Lay down my life, on His depend?

 

If you just give up your control,

And let God’s Life now through you flow,

That’s how you on His Life depend.

That’s how you get to be His friend.

 

If you try hard to do your best,

To build up your own righteousness,

Then that means you are in control.

To be His friend is not your goal.

 

But when you’re willing to lay aside

Your goodness, and in His abide,

Then you will be God’s special friend;

And that friendship will never end.

 

No greater love can anyone show

Than giving up their life, you know.

So lose your life, on His depend;

And then you’ll truly be God’s friend.
