WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS

Some People Say: "When you're dead they call the undertaker, have a funeral and put you under the ground . . . that's all there is to it, that's the end . . . there is no more."

The Bible says: "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment"(Heb.9:27).

Some People Say: "The preaching of salvation through a man's death on the cross is utter foolishness!"

The Bible says: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1Cor.1:18). "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).

Some People Say: "My mother and father are ancient squares; They don't know where it's at! Ha! Just imagine, they think my life style is sinful. There is no such thing as sin."

The Bible says: "There is a generation that curseth their father, and doeth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness" (Prov.30:11,12).

Some People Say: "There is nothing wrong with astrology, witchcraft or spiritism. Many fine, sincere people do these things."

The Bible says: "Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or cast spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord" (Deut.18:10-12).

Some People Say: "I don't feel it is at all necessary for me to repent or be converted. I have baked a cake for our annual church sale for the past ten years. Once I even made an afghan for a missionary, and all my life I have been good to doggies and kitties."

The Bible says: "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags" (Isa.64:6). "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way" (Isa.53:6). "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19).

Some People Say: "Sure I make out, and do whatever feels good. Only old fashioned people have those ancient moralistic hangups about sex. I say party all you can and let the good times roll!"

The Bible says: "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death" (Prov.14:12). "It is the will of God that you should be holy; and that you should avoid sexual immorality" (2Thes.4:3).

Some People Say: "Personally, I think the Hindu religion is wonderful. But there are many marvelous religions in the world and they all lead to God."

The Bible says: (Jesus speaking) "I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life" (1John 5:11,12).

Some People Say: "I've been a hooker for ten years and have been busted more times than I can remember. I got two cases going now. It turns my gut when I think of some of the things I've done for money. Don't talk to me about God. Yeah, I'd like a different life, but my soul is so full of sin it stinks! Even God couldn't make me clean. I want to die."

The Bible says: "Come now, let us reason together," says the Lord. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow" (Isa.1:18). "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Some People Say: "I have everything a man could want. I own land in many parts of the world. I have huge stock holdings and my oil wells gave me over a billion dollars in profits last year."

The Bible says: "What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Mark.8:36,37).

Some People Say: "We more advanced modern clergymen don't believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus. We don't accept the miracles of the Bible."

The Bible says: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (1Tim.4:7). "Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away" (2Tim.3:5).

Some People Say: "What's that ya say man? Jesus comin' back? It's curtains for the earth scene? I'll tell ya what, Baby, give me a ring on the phone when it starts to come down. I won't notice because I'll be so busy doin' what feels good! Whooooooey! I'm grabbin' for the biggest slice of life I can get! Wise up, dum-dum! People have always cried doom. It ain't goanna happen!"

The Bible says: "There shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? . . . all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation" (2 Pet.3:3,4). "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; . . . the heavens shall pass away with a great noise (explosion), and the elements shall melt with fevent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up" (Pet.3:10). "Repent: For the kingdom of heaven is at hand" (Mat.4:17).

Some People Say: "I'm wiped out! There's no hope for me. I've been in trouble so many times with the cops. I've been busted for possession of drugs and stealing. I was kicked out of school and even my folks tossed me out. I'd like to start all over; I'd do things different, but it's too late now! A new life is impossible for me."

The Bible says: "For there is nothing that God cannot do" (Luke 1:37). "Everything is possible for the person who has faith" (Mark 9:23). "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31). "When anyone is joined to Christ, he is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come" (2Cor.5:17).
